JOURNAL OF FAMILY NURSING - INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS
Journal of Family Nursing is owned by Sage Publications, Inc. Janice M. Bell, RN, PhD, (University of Calgary) is the founding editor of this journal. The first issue of this quarterly journal began in February 1995.
The Journal of Family Nursing is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes scholarly work on nursing research, practice, education and policy issues related to families in health and illness. The mission of the journal is to extend understanding about the relationships between families, illness, and health, and how caring practices based on this understanding can serve to diminish suffering and enhance health in families. In addition, appropriate articles of empirical and theoretical analyses on the subject of family health will be published. Both "family as context" and "family as unit" is represented. Additionally, there is a strong mandate to represent cultural diversity and families across the life cycle. Interdisciplinary and collaborative perspectives are encouraged, as are international contributions.
The Journal of Family Nursing received its first Impact Factor in the Thomson-Reuters Scientific Journal Citation Reports 2007. JFN has a 2010 Impact Factor of 1.689 and was ranked 7/89 in the Nursing category.
Papers will be selected for their scientific merit and creative treatment of significant issues in the field. One of the objectives of the journal is to establish a forum in which practitioners, educators, and researchers in various clinical specialties and fields can extend the lively debate and begin a more critical dialogue about the family in health and illness.
