ST LOUIS (MD Consult) - On May 20, 2009, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released an updated guidance document on the emergency use of Tamiflu in pediatric patients younger than 1 year. The document details Tamiflu dosing recommendations for the treatment and prophylaxis of influenza in this age group. In infants who have been diagnosed with influenza, a 5-day treatment regimen with Tamiflu is recommended. In infants who have been in close contact with persons who have been diagnosed with influenza, a 10-day course of Tamiflu is recommended.
