ST LOUIS (MD Consult) - On December 13, 2010, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning to consumers about use of Man Up Now, a product marketed as a dietary supplement for the purpose of sexual enhancement. The FDA analyzed the product and determined that it contains sulfoaildenafil, a chemical similar to sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra. Marketing materials for Man Up Now state that the product is "herbal" and "all natural," and consumers may mistakenly assume the product is harmless and poses no health risk.
Like sildenafil, sulfoaildenafil may interact with prescription drugs such as nitrates (eg, nitroglycerin) and cause dangerously low blood pressure in persons taking these types of products together. To date, the FDA is not aware of any adverse events associated with the use of Man Up Now capsules.
Nonprescription sexual-enhancement products promising rapid or long-lasting effects are likely to contain ingredients in FDA-approved drugs or variations of those ingredients. The FDA advises consumers who have experienced any adverse effects with the use of sexual enhancement products to discontinue use and to consult a health care professional. Adverse events that may be related to the use of these products should be reported to the FDA's Med Watch Program.
Man Up Now, distributed by Synergy Distribution LLC, is sold on Internet sites, online marketplaces, and possibly in retail outlets in single, double, and triple blister-packs, and in bottles containing 6-, 12-, and 30-count capsules.
迄今为止,FDA尚不知道使用Man Up Now胶囊相关的不良反应。
